Is it legal for a landlord to enter your apartment when you're not home without your consent?

We just moved to Nevada over month ago and rented an apartment temporarily. We are quiet, clean tenants who cause no trouble and pay our rent on time (our landlord has all our required move in fees, deposits, etc.) Recently we received a notice that our apartment has been chosen at random to be inspected. This is all fine except I called one of the apartment complex secretaries to request the inspection be done only when I am home as we have some valuables and heirlooms (some of the workers here are rude and shady). The secretary told me (condescendingly) they can and will enter at any time whether I'm home or not and for any reason they choose. I find this a violation of rights. At least where I'm from (Michigan), my landlords were all courteous and set up a a times when I would be home to enter. Does anyone know if this is illegal? Don't we have rights to privacy as renters?
