Can any kind of music be as artful as a classical melody ?

Don't get me wrong i'm not a classical expert , i mean i am fond of classical but i also love other genres , like jazz , new age etc. What i mean is , can a protest song with a great political meaning that wakes up a person , can a poem that became a song with great love lyrics have good enough massage so it can be considered a masterpiece , like a classical song would ?
