Family heirlooms. To keep or to sell?

I really need the money right now and my grandma gave me like 13 family heirlooms. Would it be bad if I sold one? Like what if it was for A LOT of money? I bet she wouldn't care. Like even if I pass it to my grandchildren, some time down the line it's going to be sold/lost/destroyed/ or stolen.
